A320 WARNING PANEL
MASTER WARN lights
- Flash red for level 3 warning
- Accompanied by an aural warning (continuous repetitive chime, specific sounds or synthetic voice).
MASTER CAUT lights
- Light up steady amber for a level 2 caution
- Accompanied by a single chime.
These lights go out when :
- One pilot presses the light (except for some red warnings, such as the overspeed and stall warnings).
- The warning/caution situation is over.
- The pilot presses the CLR pb on the ECAM control panel (except for some red warnings, such as the overspeed and stall warnings).
- The pilot presses the EMER CANC pb on the ECAM control panel.
The aural warnings cease when :
- One pilot presses the MASTER WARN light (except for some red warnings, such as the overspeed and stall warnings).
- The warning situation is over.
- The pilot presses the EMER CANC pb on the ECAM control panel.
AUTOLAND WARNING LIGHT
The AUTOLAND warning flashes when:
- At least one AP is engaged below 200 ft with LOC and G/S armed, or with LOC, G/S, LAND or FLARE mode on the FMA and the difference between both RA indications is more than 15 ft RA, or
- At least one AP is engaged below 200 ft with LAND or FLARE mode on the FMA and one of the following conditions occurs:
- The LOC deviation exceeds 1/4 dot and the aircraft is above 15 ft RA (the LOC scale flashes on the PFD), or
- The GLIDE deviation exceeds 1 dot and the aircraft is above 100 ft RA (the GLIDE scale flashes on the PFD), or
- Loss of LOC signal above 15 ft RA (the FD vertical bar flashes on the PFD), or
- Loss of GLIDE signal above 100 ft RA (the FD horizontal bar flashes on the PFD), or
- The last AP disengages, or
- The FMGS detects a long flare, or
- The FMGS detects an untimely flare condition.
(The FMGS detects an untimely flare condition when the time between LAND engagement (below 400 ft RA) and FLARE condition (below 50 ft RA) is less than 2 s.)
ATC MSG
- ATC MSG pb flashes when a datalink message from the ATC center is received, or a reminder message is received. When a message is received, the DCDU automatically displays the message on the screen. Associated with audio alert. When the flight crew presses one of the two ATC MSG pbs, the ATC MSG lights go off and the aural alert associated with the reception of the message is cancelled.
CHRONO pb
- Pushing this button displays chronometer time on the onside ND.
- Pushing it again freezes the displayed value (time).
- Pushing it a third time resets the chronometer, and the chronometer time disappears from the ND.
SIDE STICK PRIORITY lt
Red arrow light :
- Comes on in front of the flight crew losing authority.
- Goes out if the flight crew has recovered their authority
- if the other flight crew releases their TAKEOVER pushbutton prior the priority condition is latched. Or
- If the flight crew has used their takeover push button to cancel a latched priority situation.
- Sidestick priority audio : A “PRIORITY LEFT” or “PRIORITY RIGHT” audio voice message is given each time priority is taken.
Green CAPT and F/O lights :
- Both lights flash when the flight crew move both sidesticks simultaneously and neither takes priority.
- When the flight crew has taken priority by pressing the takeover pushbutton and the other flight crew’s sidestick is not at neutral, the light in front of the flight crew with priority lights up. It goes out when the other flight crew returns their stick to the neutral position.
