B737 Display Units
The Boeing 737 flight deck features four identical flat-panel LCD display units (DUs). These are arranged as Outboard and Inboard DUs on both the Captain’s and First Officer’s forward panels.
The Left Captain’s Outboard and Inboard DUs are powered by the 28 VDC standby bus, while the Right First Officer’s DUs (Outboard and Inboard) draw power from the 28 VDC BUS 2.
The DUs display critical information, including an Engine Display, a Multi-Function Display (MFD), and two formats each for Primary Flight Displays (PFDs), Navigation Displays (NDs), and Auxiliary Displays (AUX). Each DU is divided into two regions to accommodate two formats simultaneously.
- The Outboard DU’s can show:
- PFD and AUX
- PFD and Engine Display
- PFD and MFD
- PFD and ND
- The Inboard DU’s can show:
- PFD and Engine Display
- PFD and MFD
- PFD and ND
- Engine Display and ND
- ND and MFD
The Inboard DUs can also show a single format occupying the entire display for certain formats like the ND.
